Promoting Our Cause to Consumers

One quarter can save a life: Part of the marketing effort from Flavor and Fragrance Specialties

As summer in Vermont draws to a close, we prepare to begin another fiscal year. The coming of fall also affords us the opportunity to look back on all the sources of support we have received and appreciated during this past year.

Major donors are the lifeblood of this organization. We simply could not bring the range of sustainable cervical cancer prevention services and trainings to the four coffee-growing countries in which we currently work without their generous and on-going support. This year, their combined giving exceeded half a million dollars! How fantastic is that?

At the other end of the spectrum are those retailers and roasters – often a single “Mom & Pop” coffee shop – who choose to conduct a promotion with their customers on our behalf. This year we had 15 retail partners who together raised a total of over $15,000. They took it upon themselves to teach, one customer at a time, about the unacceptably high death rate from cervical cancer in coffee-growing communities. They made it their mission to let their coffee-drinking public know why they should care about the women who grow, harvest and sort the coffee that ends up in their morning cup. We applaud their initiative and their generosity.

Looking ahead we are very excited about the retail-focused marketing campaign that Flavor & Fragrance Specialties has launched to benefit Grounds for Health. Heavily supported with advertising, point of purchase and new social media, this campaign simultaneously educates the public while making it easier than ever for retailers to support our work. Learn more about the program at Facebook.com/BrewingChange.

We heartily thank all our supporters – large and small. Your support and encouragement keep us going. You can see a complete list of our industry support from October 2010 to January 2012 at https://groundsforhealth.org//supporters/.

Together we are already making a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of women coffee farmers and their families. With your help, the work goes on.
