Located in the northern mountains of Nicaragua bordering Honduras, Nueva Segovia is the fourth cervical cancer prevention program Grounds for Health has established in Nicaragua. Alongside our coffee cooperative partner Prodecoop, and the local health authorities, our program focuses on expanding Screen and Treat services to combat cervical cancer in rural areas. The ultimate goal is to build the capacity of local partners to integrate VIA and cryotherapy into primary care services and strengthen linkages between rural communities and these services.

Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania

In the fall of 2011 Grounds for Health moved across the country of Tanzania from Kigoma to Kilimanjaro. Our program in Kigoma was well established at that point and our partner ICAP was in a good position to continue to support the program until the time when the ministry of health is able to fully manage these programs. In Kilimanjaro we have partnered with the Association of Kilimanjaro Specialty Coffee Growers (Kilicafe), The Elizabeth Glazier Pediatric Aids Foundation (EGPAF) and The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. Since then Grounds for Health has conducted trainings of both clinical providers and community health promoters as cervical cancer prevention services are established in the region.
